Apple acknowledges problems with MacBook batteries
Apple has admitted there may be problems with the batteries in its MacBook and Mac Book Pro computers, issuing a software update to solve the problem and offering to replace any batteries that are defective. But according to a company spokesman, the faults ” do not present a safety risk”.
The battery problems have allegedly been around since the launch of the machines in 2006 – and have included swollen batteries on some models. Apple has now acknowledged that battery packs which are “visibly deformed” are among the symptoms of the problem.
All MacBook users are advised to install an update. If battery problems persist after the update, Apple has said users should contact their local Apple store or retailer and the firm will arrange replacement batteries free of charge.
