The word “vintage” isn’t something you would ordinarily apply to a mobile handset, but it is the word Alcatel has chosen to use to describe the new Alcatel OT-C828 slider phone.

It’s used to describe the styling, with chrome casing and a leather-look finish. It’s also got a reasonable specification without troubling any of the big boys. That includes an MP3 player with dedicated keys and a 128MB SD card to store your tunes (which can be expanded up to 2GB). There’s also a pair of stereo headphones supplied.

Other features include a TFT 262k colour screen, 1.3 megapixel camera, video recording, video playback, Bluetooth streaming and a webcam function if you plug it into a PC.

Available from June/July 2007, stockist and price details to be confirmed.
