Sony to launch iPod docking station

sonyipoddock.jpgSony, who lost their dominant position in the portable music player market to Apple, are about to launch an iPod docking station. Though there’s nothing particularly unique about the system (compared to any of the other docking stations out there) it’s interesting that Sony have decided to market accessories to a rival they presumably believe they have no chance of overturning.

The CPF-IP001 does everything that any other dock does – charges, syncs, and plays your music. The unit is compatible with most of the iPod range that have a dock connector.

The unit features 2x5W speakers and a 15W subwoofer, S-Master digital power amplifier, digital signal processor with surround sound mode, line in, and remote control.

It will be available from March, price to be confirmed.
