Scotty Pro solar charger
It'll be a while yet before iPods and mobile phones come with built-in solar panels for recharging, but you can at least buy portable solar chargers to keep your gadgets well-juiced. We covered Maplin Electronics' Scotty charger last year, but it's now been followed up with the Scotty Pro.
It has a pair of rechargeable AA batteries inside, which take it seven hours to fill up from the sun's rays alone. Then you can connect it to your MP3 player, digital camera, mobile phone or other device (adapters are supplied, including USB), and it'll transfer the charge over.
Apparently, when fully charged, Scotty Pro provides one hour talktime for mobile phones, 4-6 hours gaming for a Gameboy (I'm not sure what this means for a PSP or DS, mind), and 2-6 hours use for a Discman.
For a quick but less eco-friendly hit, you can swap in two normal AA batteries to give whatever mobile device you're using a boost too. Scotty Pro costs £49.95 from I Want One Of Those, and is available now.
