Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS75Panasonic offer up two digital cameras to succeed the award-winning DMC-LS2. The DMC-LS75 (7.2 megapixel) and DMC-LS60 (6 megapixel) are consumer-friendly digital cameras with a number of decent features.

They feature a Lumix DC Vario lens offering up to 3x optical zoom. It comprises 7 elements in 6 groups, including 3 lenses with a combined 3 aspherical surfaces. In 3 megapixel resolution mode, the Extra Optical Zoom function allows for additional magnification up to 4.5x, by using the central part of the CCD.

Both cameras include an Easy Zoom function that automatically shifts the lens to 3x zoom power at a single button press, and then to 4.5x by activating the Extra Optical Zoom function.

Like their bigger cousins they feature Panasonic’s Optical Image Stabiliser and Intelligent ISO Control, to minimise camera shake and motion blur. They also have the Venus Engine III which can record at a sensitivity setting as high as ISO 1250 at full resolution, plus improved noise reduction that occurs during image processing.

Both cameras feature a 0.005 second shutter release lag time, and can take up to 3fps at full resolution in the burst shooting mode. There’s also a video mode able to capture 30fps at 848×480 widescreen resolution.

The DMC-LS75 comes with a 2.5-inch LCD screen, and the DMC-LS60 has a 2.0-inch screen. The cameras run on two AA batteries.

Available from March, prices to be confirmed.
