OSCARs to be shown live in UK exclusively on Sky in high definition

OSCAR statueSky have announced that live coverage of the 79th Annual Academy Awards (OSCARS) will be shown in the UK exclusively on Sky. This will include both the ceremony and the red-carpet arrivals, and will also be shown in high definition to Sky customers with a Sky HD box.

Sky One and Sky One HD will show a 90-minute preview at 11pm on Sunday 25th February, with Fearne Cotton grabbing exclusive interviews with the stars as they arrive.

Then, from 12.30am, Sky Movies and Sky Movies HD will show full, live coverage of the awards. The ceremony begins at 1.30am. During breaks, Claudia Winkleman will provide expert commentary.

For those who can’t stay up into the wee small hours, Sky One and Sky One HD will broadcast a two-hour highlights show from 10pm on Monday 26th February, hosted by Fearne Cotton.
