Sky has released new figures boasting 96,000 Sky HD subscribers – but they obviously aren’t content with that, launching a half-price offer if you spend some cash in certain electrical retailers before Christmas.

Sky currently has 12 channels in its HD package, with highlights in the coming weeks including the new series of Lost, Terry Pratchett’s The Hogfather, movies including X Men: The Last Stand and The Da Vinci Code, plus the entire six episodes of Star Wars back to back in HD for the first time. If that appeals, here’s how you get the half price offer.

Basically, any new or existing Sky customer who spends £169 or over on any TV in participating stores (Comet, Currys, John Lewis, Sony Centres and Independent Sky Retailers) is eligible for £150 off the cost of a Sky HD box (and of course, when you subscribe). The standard price is £299, so that’s half price.

If that still sounds a bit rich, Sky has also launched a ‘Pub Locator’ at the website to find pubs and clubs with Sky HD. Nurse a half of lager for two hours and that’s an even better deal.
