skybroadband.pngSky are doing pretty well at the moment. On top of their 96,000 Sky HD homes announcement, they’ve also revealed that they’ve already passed the one million mark for signups to their ‘free’ broadband service.

According to their results from July to September 2006 they are receiving 20,000 orders every week, with over 540 local exchanges unbundled.

The ‘free’ broadband deal is their 2Mbps service which has no monthly charge but a £90 setup fee.

Customers who’ve actually been connected sit at 74,000, so there’s a long way to go yet. Whether signups are going to outpace installations for some time to come remains to be seen – hopefully Sky can get some speed up and fulfil these million-plus orders.

Other telecoms operators might well be worried…
