Liindy Electronics has launched its Cat5 USB Extender that allows a user the simplicity of plug and play USB up to 50 metres from their computer using Cat5 or better cable (commonly used for Ethernet).

The device comprises two parts, a local unit that connects to a USB port on the host computer and a remote unit to which the USB device is connected. The units enable standard low cost Cat5/5e/6 cable to be used to connect them together to extend the USB port by up to 50m at speeds of up to 12Mbps. At lengths of up to 40m, a USB hub can be connected to provide extension for multiple devices.

An optional power supply is available for use with high current USB devices.

The unit is available now for £49.99
