guitarhero.jpgPS2 software developers RedOctane held a rock (mock) funeral yesterday to mark the sad departure of the air guitar.

They’re confident that their latest Guitar Hero II music game for the Playstation 2 will kiss goodbye to the legendary air guitar. I’m not convinced.

RedOctane say: Rather than pretend playing air guitar riffs using fingers and thin air, Guitar Hero II lets anyone look and feel like a true rock star. The video game uses interactive music technology and the Guitar Hero SG Controller, modelled after the Gibson SG guitar, to allow players to thrash along to more than 40 rock classics including ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’, ‘Freebird’ and ‘Message in a Bottle’.

Key features of the game include:

* Over 30 of the greatest rock songs of all-time.
* 4 difficulty levels (Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert).
* 6 venues that range from basement parties to sold out stadiums.
* 8 different characters that each offer their own look and unique style of playing, from metal head to classic rocker.
* Two-player mode.

It’s available now priced £49.99
