Here’s a handy little program Propellerhead has found for road warriors. It’s called WiFi SiStr from a Belgian outfit called Dnsoft — try saying that with false teeth. Once installed it sits quietly on your wireless laptop’s desktop, monitoring all available wireless connections, displaying signal strength, logging your connection history and warning you with an audible alert when the signal falls below a pre-set threshold. It can also display stats for your best and worst connections, and system settings, so it’s quite handy for troubleshooting. It looks very pretty too and the display is highly customisable.
