Universal Music goes after other video sites

universal.jpgWeeks after Universal did a deal with YouTube, they’re now pursuing ‘non-deal’ video sharing sites who are misusing their content.

Sites Bolt and Grouper are the targets, for allegedly infringing copyright of artists such as Bon Jovi, Eminem, Jamie Cullum and U2, claiming up to $150k for each incident.

In response, the video sites have asked its users not to upload copyrighted material. And of course, all those users will abide by that, won’t they. Or defect to YouTube whom Universal have chosen to bless.

“You can still watch your favourite music videos by visiting your favourite bands’ websites. Bear with us – we hope to sort this out soon.” Bolt’s website said.

Quite how they’re going to sort it out is another matter.
