Reuters is the latest company clamouring to be a part of the Second Life virtual world (some say parallel universe), with an announcement that it will begin publishing text, phono and video news from the real world within Second Life from this Wednesday. In an interesting twist, Reuters will also show Second Life news to mere mortals in the outside world at http://secondlife.reuters.com/

The first virtual news bureau chief will be Adam Pasick, based in London, who will be called Adam Reuters in the game.

“As strange as it might seem, it’s not that different from being a reporter in the real world,” Pasick said. “Once you get used to it — it becomes very much like the job I have been doing for years.”

Reuters’ journalists will report financial and cultural stories about Second Life in a bid to reach a new audience using the latest technology.

In Second Life, characters can use a mobile device to keep track of news from both within and outside Second Life. They can then visit the Reuters Atrium if they wish to meet others to discuss the latest events in both real and virtual worlds.

Is that a dream job or what?
