With bags that look ready to challenge your notebook computer to a trip up Everest, Ben Nevis, Snowdon, or the rough and tumble of a commuter-filled Tube, Pakuma have extended their urban bags range with the launch of the distinctly backpack-like Akara K1.

It features a unique COCOON protection system that will hold up to a 17 inch laptop computer, plus all your other belongings. Christian Drew of Pakuma said that they’ve used the finest design and materials to ensure that the bag is both stylish and durable.

What’s also good is that it’s not immediately obvious that you’re carrying round an expensive computer, so not only is it nicely padded but it’s less conspicuous – certainly less obvious than a black Dell-branded case, for example…

It’s got an internal volume of 23 litres (quite how you measure your possessions in litres is your problem), with external dimensions of 34 x 16.5 x 51cm. The inner COCOON dimensions are 30×5.1x39cm. All the other things you’d expect on a decent tech-friendly backpack are there including Duraflex buckles, YKK zips and pullers, chest and waist straps, air support system, organiser section, cable storage pouches, document space, disc storage, CD wallet, MP3 pouch with headphone out port and external mesh pockets.

They come in black and brown with green piping, or black and green with brown piping. Not sure of the official price but they’re retailing online for around £64.99.
