Is BT’s 20GB maximum ‘digital vault’ online back-up service good value? Not according to Carbonite, which has re-launched its own service in the UK, promising unlimited storage at a cheaper price.

Carbonite’s Online PCBackup service is available from today with unlimited storage in the UK, undercutting BT’s price by around half (a £30 yearly fee). There’s no limit to how much you store – which is good news if you’ve got a large drive bursting at the seams and the company double-encrypts files before they leave your PC for security. This means a hacker needs to physically use your PC to access the files.

If this service doesn’t suit, there’s sure to be many more similar services coming your way in the coming weeks and months.
