Five out of the ten fastest growing websites in the UK between January and July this year are social networking / Web 2.0 based – in other words they’re built on user-generated content.

Top of the pile is YouTube, followed by Flickr in 2nd and MySpace in 3rd place. Photobucket comes in 5th, with Bebo in 8th.

The full list reads as follows, with the growth percentage from Jan-Jul 06, and the total number of visitors in the month of July.

1. YouTube (478%) – 3.58m
2. Flickr (131%) – 1m
3. MySpace (98%) – 3.5m
4. American Express (97%) – 1.17m
5. Photobucket (91%) – 0.83m
6. Mozilla (91%) – 1.2m
7. Vodafone (86%) – 1.3m
8. Bebo (85%) – 2.78m
9. Odeon (82%) – 0.98m
10. B&Q (72%) – 1.37m

More proof that social networking and Web 2.0 is really the current online flavour – oh, plus a bit of DIY and cinemagoing.
