BlogMusik "online iPod" may be shortlived

Michael Arrington at TechCrunch writes about the BlogMusik ‘virtual iPod’ that seems to be pulling music tracks from around the Internet and freely playing and sharing them.

It’s not much to look at, but it does appear to be giving free access to quite a large number of tracks. Whilst there’s evidence of music, though, there’s precious little evidence of any owners – the blog doesn’t work, and there are some unnerving links to online casinos at the bottom of the page.

The legality of this is highly questionable, and Michael’s advice is to “enjoy it while it lasts”.

Admittedly it doesn’t let you download the tracks, you simply stream them, but the quality sounds quite good and it wouldn’t be hard to capture the audio output or hack the Flash player itself. Plenty of interesting commentary (if you like that sort of thing) at the blog.

What do you reckon to the site?
