As soon as the Wi-Fi enabled Skype handset has hit the stores, it;s being upgraded – by Asus in this instance, which is introducing a Wi-Fi enabled handset that doubles up as a speaker, playing songs streamed from your PC.

Going under the name of the AiGuru S1, the handset connects to a PC running Skype across your Wi-Fi network, supporting all the usual Skype features – SkypeIn, SkypeOut, conference calling, voice mail and contacts. The handset also contains a 0.5W speaker for hands-free calls, which you can also yse to listen to music. Or alternatively, plug in a pair of earphones into the handset’s 3.5mm audio socket. And if you’re Windows Media Player, you can control it remotely with the handset.

Details of shipping and price aren’t yet available – more when we get it.
