The results are in from the Pop Sci and Core77 challenge to create a human-powered device, and the winner: the ReGEN: Yo Yo Powered MP3 Player. Wireless headphones mean you can yo the yo whenever it runs down; they say a dozen flicks is all it needs to charge up for a whole hour. Making the LCDs proof against random accidental violence will be an interesting engineering challenge, but the basic idea is not only very cool, but garnering heavy plaudits. Kudos to the designers, fellow Canucks Chris Aimone and Tomek Bartczak. [GT]
