Microsoft gets number two spot to protect its own operating system

Microsoft has already claimed the number 2 position – at least in the US – for security software with its Windows Live OneCare package. Whilst more established rivals such as McAfee and Symantec have seen losses in their market share, Microsoft seems to be sitting pretty after its aggressive marketing and pricing of its own solution for protecting Windows.

Digital Lifestyles comments that it’s quite funny that Microsoft are charging people to secure the Windows operating system. Well, someone’s got to do it – so why not the people that supposedly know the flaws the best?

It’s another area where Microsoft seem to have arrived late at the party yet taken significant ground in the market.

Are you trusting your PCs security to Microsoft?
