Even with temperatures soaring, there’s still a steady procession of joggers on the street, sweating off those pounds in search of the body beautiful. And where there’s a market, there’s a gadget – like this Thomson PDP2662S Sports MP3 Player,  which offers music, as well as keeping track of your workout.

The Thomson PDP2662S Sports MP3 Player features a built in pulse rate monitor, calorie counter and stopwatch – so you’ll know just how much good that run in the park is doing for your health. And you can attach it to yourself with either the sports style armband, belt clip or neck strap (all included).

The music player has 512MB of internal memory, which can probably hold around 200 music tracks, with music transferred via drag ‘n’ drop. It supports MP3 and WMA, with DRM support too. There’s  a large backlit multi-line full dot matrix LCD display with folder navigation for your tunes and it’s one of the few players (outside of the iPod) to offer support for Audible’s audio books.

The player runs off 1x AA battery (which should last 50 hours) and comes complete with sports style earphones at a price of around £39.

  • Audible would be surprised to hear that the Thomson PDP2662S Sports MP3 Player “is one of the few players (outside of the iPod) to offer support for Audible’s audio books.”
They say there are 190 devices that support Audible audiobooks.
    See http://www.audible.com/adbl/store/deviceCenter/devices.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes.
I personally have used several Creative and SanDisk players with their audiobooks.
While I find the 190 hard to believe, they do list Creative, Dell, Garmin, GPX, iRiver, Kenwood, Motorola, RCA, Rio, SanDisk, Sonos, and Thomson.
