Since Apple stopped making its colourful iBooks, the humble laptop has retreated back to the more traditional masculine colours of black and grey. If that’s not your kind of thing, you’ll be pleased to know that Oregon Scientific has introduced the Barbie B Book laptop in a very bold shade of pink.

Don’t worry – there’s little chance of you getting one of these from your employers, the fabric-covered Barbie B Book is aimed firmly at children, with the emphasis on learning rather than web surfing and handling spreadsheets. It features over 30 learning games, ranging from memory and spelling to punctuation challenges, maths tests and puzzles – all enhanced with digital sounds and animation. It also features a full qwerty keyboard, so should set children up well for using computers in school.

The Barbie B Book laptop is available from this month from leading toy stores, priced around £40.
