Maxfield MaxMovie – hands-free music and movies on the move

Following on from their range of portable music players, German electronics firm Maxfield has launched MaxMovie, which combines a music/video player with photo display and audio recorder, alarm clock and FM radio all in one small unit – and with the sports wristband, you can do it all hands-free (though you might look like you’re wearing an odd, oversized wristwatch).

Measuring only 69 x 33 x 16 mm, the 1GB capacity player can play music and video via MP3, WMA, OGG, JPG, AVI, MPEG4 and DIVX files, all transferred over via USB 2.0. Video-wise, the player can store around 40 music videos, played back on the 260,000 colour OLED display. Music can be boosted via the 6-band equaliser, with Windows DRM also supported if you’re signed up one of the big download services. There’s also an FM radio.

You can also use the MaxMovie as a recorder, either from an external audio source, in-built FM Radio or via its own the microphone for voice recording. The unit can store up to 8,720 minutes of mono recording (at 16 kb/sec) or 3,818 (at 64 kb/sec) for stereo. And if all that’s not enough, there’s a clock, alarm clock and a sleep function.

It should be available in the coming weeks, priced around £90.
