With so many companies bringing out feature-packed players, you wonder how the basic players survive? Probably because some people just want a music player that does the job required without costing the earth – like this Inovix IMP-18 portable music player.

If you just want to listen to your MP3 and WMA files from a compact player, this is the kind of player you might consider. In fact, it also has support for secure WMA DRM files – which means you should be alright playing music from most legal music download websites (Napster, for example). A 96 x 26 Blue LCD screen displays ID3 tags – song title, artist and time duration and it’s plug ‘n’ play, so no drivers or software to install. And if you need to do some voice recording, there’s also a built-in microphone.

Powered by one AAA battery (which should last for up to 12 hours of audio playback), you can pick up the Inovix IMP-18 for around £30.
