Apple posts second highest quarterly sales figures
No surprise that Apple is flourishing. With a host of new and improved products already on the market this year, including the MacBook Pro, the Intel-powered Mac Mini and the iPod Hi-Fi, along with continuing strong demand for iPods, the company has reported its second highest quarterly sales and earnings figures ever, with a 48 per cent increase in profits.
Apple shipped 1.3 million Macs, an increase of 12 per cent, along with an amazing 8.1 million iPods during the three months to July 1st 2006, an increase of 32 per cent over the same period last year and ahead of analysts’ predictions of 7.5 million units.
Apple chief Steve Jobs responded by saying he was "extremely excited" by future iPod products in the company’s pipeline, details of which may become clearer at this summer’s Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco, along with details of Apple’s plans for movie rentals via iTunes.
