And still the leading names in fashion clamour desperately for assocation with the iPod. This time it’s Nike with their Nike+iPod Sport Kit.

It’s actually of more practical use than most – it’s a wireless system that allows Nike+ footwear to transfer workout data to your iPod nano. The kit consists of an in-shoe sensor and a receiver that attaches to iPod. It collates information on time, distance, calories burned and pace, which is then stored on the iPod and displayed on the screen.

Audible feedback lets you know how you’re doing without having to check your iPod and the data can also be transferred to a Mac or PC once you get back from your run.

The new Nike+ Air Zoom Moire ($100) is the first footwear designed to work with the iPod. The kit itself will be available for $29 in the US from July. No details of a UK launch as yet.
