Evesham, working with Destinator, has launched what is describes as "a new kind of satellite navigation system" with the Bluemedia BM6300-TMC – sat nav that’s clever enough to take you round any unexpected problems on the road.

It features all you’d expect from your average sat nav system, including Navteq Q3 2005 maps (viewed as 2D or 3D) displayed on a 3.5inch LCD screen. But this system also has Traffic Message Channel (TMC) compatibility. Using the software already integrated into the system and an FM receiver, TMC delivers the latest traffic information to the driver enabling you to avoid hold ups and hazards such as accidents, bad weather, jams and roadworks. When you approach an area where there is a hazard, you’ll be informed of the jam and a new route will automatically be set. And as a bonus, subscription to TMC is free to the user for the life of the unit.

In addition, the BM6300-TMC also includes visual and audible speed camera alerts (free for 6 months).

The BM6300-TMC retails around £400, with a BM6300 model without TMC functionality, retailing around £300.
