Archos unveils twin-tuner handheld PVR
Archos has unveiled what it claims is the world’s first portable movie player with two integrated digital TV tuners and built-in PVR functionality.
The Archos AV 700 TV, which also holds and plays music and photos, features a 40GB drive and a 7-inch widescreen display. With two tuners, you can watch one channel while recording another. You can also connect the AV 700 to a regular TV, so it doubles up as a set-top box. Archos said the player’s external antenna has been souped up to enable digital TV reception at speeds of up to 130kph/81mph when you’re out and about – something it claims is impossible with other existing receivers.
If you can’t wait for a full TV service on your mobile (or just want a bigger screen), you can pick up the AV 700 from May, retailing for around £480.
