The days of PCs as the beige box under the desk are definitely numbered as manufacturers pitch their latest designs unashamedly towards the entertainment market, with looks to match. Sony’s latest Vaio desktop – VGX-XL100 – has absolutely no intention of living in your office or study area!

Designed to sit in the living room with a TV as its display, the VGX-XL100, powered by an Intel Pentium D Processor 920, comes in a black and brushed silver case that will make the neighbours green with envy. The XL100’s TV tuner lets you watch both analogue and digital TV and its the 250GB hard disk should be ample to record your favourite shows. It also comes with VAIO Information Flow, a graphical interface for use at a distance from the screen that provides instant access to services including RSS feeds, a newsreader, podcasting, picture slideshows and the music player.

No release date or price for the UK as yet.
