Sony finally nailed its Blu-ray colours to the mast today by announcing an early summer US launch for its BDP-S1 Blu-ray player. It'll be high def compatible and able to output signals at the top level of the format - 1080p. The player's launch will be accompanied by the release of at least 20 titles from Sony Pictures and MGM.
Sony also confirmed that it would have Blu-ray recorders for the PC at around the same time as well that can record on both 25 and 50 Gig discs, as well as the Vaio XL3 laptop which will feature an integrated Blu-ray drive. There's no news on a UK launch.
