Pentax has announced the introduction of two compact digital cameras at the 2006 CES.

The Optio A10 camera is their first 8 megapixel compact digital camera with a 1.8-inch CCD and featuring "shake reduction" technology. The slimline and lightweight Optio E10 is an entry-level 6 megapixel digital camera with 3x optical zoom lens. The E10 also features a mode dial for quick selection of one of the eight modes. Six of these are still-image shooting modes, one is a movie mode and a set-up mode is also featured.

Both use a new model naming system for Pentax cameras based on a letter and model number. The A series, for example, means a high-end product, while the Optio E series indicates easy-to-use products.

Unfortunately, no release date or price is available as yet for the UK, but the A10 will hit the US market in February 2006 for under $350, with the Optio E10 following for less than $200.
