CES 2006: LG set to be one of the first with a Blu-ray player

LG also confirmed that it is going to be one of the first makers to debut a Blu-ray player in the US. Due in the second quarter the BD199 plays back both Blu-ray discs and standard DVDs. It also outputs a 1080i high def signal and, for those who like their high def really high def, it can also upscale to 1080p. It will also playback new blue-violet laser BD-ROM discs and has a DTS surround sound decoding built in. Don’t expect to see it in the UK though until at least the end of the year.
