Some every exciting news from Marantz, which has just delivered the DV9600, the very first DVD player, or apparently any source component, capable of a 1080p high definition video signal.

As you probably already know 1080p is the ultimate high definition format matching the best HD resolution with progressive scan for ensuring a smooth and jitter free image. No European broadcaster has yet proposed to deliver footage in 1080p although there are some 1080p projection systems already on the market.

The £1500 player also features video scaling circuitry, which also allows upsampling of standard DVD images to 720p and 1080 high def quality. More here and on our HDTV blog HDTVUK.
