The scale of mobile internet is growing every day and this will only be increased by the introduction of the .mobi domain announced yesterday. mTLD is spear-heading this initiative with support from some major companies including mîcrosoft, Nokia, Vodafone, Samsung and T-Mobile. Although there aren't any .mobi sites accessible just yet, you can expect to see mobile orientated pages popping up around the end of this year. It's great that mobile internet will be getting a decent kick in the right direction and a new investment of funding, though I can't help but fear a fresh onslaught of cutesy animated characters vying for monthly subscriptions and becoming the bane of the advert-break once again.
