Napster and Ericsson announced today that they have partnered up in a bid to bring an integrated digital music service to mobile phone customers. The two companies are offering mobile network operators a chance to offer musical downloads to their customers. The service will be a Napster branded one, and you will be able to download music either via PC, or just straight to your phone.

The service is slated to come out in Europe sometime next year, and a release in the Americas and Asia is planned.

Looks like the long delayed Motorola iTunes phone is going to have some competition. It’s a good bet that this parnership could be the first of many as mobile phone operators try to get some of that lucrative music market.
