There is definitely new impetus in the flash memory music player market as manufacturers try and tempt those who otherwise buy an iPod shuffle. Latest to launch a rival to Apple’s model is Korean manufacturer iriver. Its new T20 comes with either 512MB or one Gigabyte of storage, weighs 30g and has a rechargeable battery with 14 hours of power. Its big advantage over the shuffle is its four line backlit LED display which delivers track and artist information and menu details. It plays back MP3, Ogg and Windows Media Audio (WMA) files and is compatible with copyright protected WMAs from sites like Napster. It also boasts voice recording facilities and an alarm clock. It goes on sale in the UK next month with the one Gigabyte version selling for £132 and the 512MB for £99.
