Canon's sky snapping camera

Must admit when Canon said it had a new camera especially for astrophotography we were pretty flummoxed. Turns out, as any Latin scholar could have told us, it means snapping the stars and the night sky. Anyhow the new model, the EOS 20Da, is pretty much identical to the well established EOS 20D except for a few new innovative features. The main one is a modified low pass filter that apparently delivers the sharper and higher contrast levels required to capture dark nighttime images. Canon has also tweaked the 1.8inch LCD monitor so it is now capable of delivering a live magnified preview of each starry image. Other features include an 8.2 mega pixel CMO sensor, Canon’s very impressive DIGIC II processor, an intelligent nine point auto focus system, full manual controls and five frames per second burst mode. It will retail for £1,829.99.
