What could possibly make text messaging more fun? Obviously having an
avatar of your choice garbling the message for you. Of course having static or animated
characters punctuate your typed conversation has been commonplace on
the Internet for some time and now Orange is offering a new Avatar
Messaging service available through its Orange World mobile phone system.
In line with Orange's Star Wars promtion: Episode III promotion R2D2, Pit-Droids, Stormtroopers and other characters can now become bearers of your text messages by 'speaking' them to your friends (we assume that involves a speech bubble or R2D2 might be a poor choice). This gimmick could add some novelty to SMS; picture the scene... "The thirst is strong in this one". "Mmmm, to the pub must we go". Btw each message costs 50p to create.
