Ahh! Somebody’s finally twigged that using incredibly small screens to browse the net on your new smart phone is amazingly annoying. To this end, according to an article on TechJapan, it looks like Japanese company NEC has developed a 2.7 inch touchscreen with QVGA (320 x 240) resolution. The screen has a low power consumption of 220 milliwatts, while retaining a contrast ratio of 400:1 and a brightness of around 180cd/square metre. According to the report, it’s only shipping in small numbers in Japan for 9,000 yen (£45) a pop, although NEC does plan on selling this for popular smartphones and PDAs in Europe and the States.
