Sony has finally told US citizens when they will be able to take delivery of its new PSP games console. Apparently the date for all Americans to ring in their virtual diary is the 24th March, when they will be able to buy one for $249.99 – that’s about $100 more than a Nintendo DS.

Sony is promising around 24 titles for the launch including FIFA 2005, Need for Speed Rivals and Twisted Metal: Head On. The PSP will also ship with a free UMD (that’s the disc specifically designed for the PSP which can hold 1.8 Gigabytes of data) containing the movie Spiderman 2.

No news yet on a UK launch, but most of the clever money appears to be on the PSP reaching our shores in early April. More at Games Digest.
