Griffin's Intelligent Cassette for the iPod

We were slightly bemused by this one initially: we don’t actually know anyone who still has a tape deck on their home sound system. But then it dawned on us (once we’d got to that part of the press release), this is the ideal thing for those trendy types driving around in their customised Minis and Beetles who don’t enjoy the benefits of modern skipping CD players. Stick the SmartDeck Intelligent Cassette into your tape deck and you can control your iPod using the various control buttons. Fast forward, rewind, pause: it all works, allowing you to play your iPod through the car stereo without any fuss. The SmartDeck is $24.99, and should be out in the second quarter of 2005.

Girffin’s also announced a stand for the Apple AirPort Express. Like the SmartDeck, the XpressStand is being debuted at Macworld Conference and Expo today. The XpressStand is also $24.99 and will be out in the first quarter of this year. Click for picture.
