Probably best known for manufacturing DVD and CD drives for computers, Taiwanese company, Lite-On, has announced the launch of its first DVD/Hard Drive video recorder. The recorder is priced at around £350, making it the cheapest currently available. The LVW-5045 has a generous 160GB on the hard disk (plenty of room for CSI, Little Britain and all our other favourite shows – aren’t you glad we share these little details with you?!) and a multi-format DVD+/-RW drive. As with most hard drive recorders you can pause live TV and rewind and playback a programme while you’re recording it. Multiple Scart connections, DV-Link and DV control for editing camcorder footage are all present and correct, and there’s also VideoPlus+ to enable timed recordings.
