Sales of GPS Systems continue apace with 2.6 million units expected to be shifted in Europe this year. Of these 1.2 million will already be installed in the car, leaving around 1.4 million for transferables – specialist handheld devices that you can stick in the motor for that all important journey.

Navman has announced three new transferable units, available from £500 upwards (much cheaper than previous models). All come with pre-installed points of interest so you can find the nearest petrol station, cinema etc. They also allow you to import points of interest provided by certain companies such as Burger King – handy for fast food fiends who need to know where their next Whopper is coming from.

Other features include a 12 stop journey planner, 3D Map view and turn-by-turn voice instructions. Mapping data is provided by TeleAtlas.
