Online retailer Peripheral Corner is the latest company to bring a personal video player to the UK.

It has just launched the PV-330 which it is billing as the Swiss Army knife of gadgets.

The device boasts a 3.5inch LCD screen a 40 Gigabyte hard disk and compatibility with a range of formats from MPEG4 video to MP3 audio.

It can also moonlight as a voice recorder, a digital photo wallet through its JPEG compatibility or simply be used as a USB storage device.

Users can transfer their video files to the PV-330 in two ways. They can port any MPEG 4 format videos they have on their PC to the device at high speed via its USB 2.0 connection.

Alternatively they can plug the device into their TV/VCR/satellite decoder/Freeview decoder as the PV-330 and record programmes that can be viewed later on its high quality 3.5inch LCD screen.

The PV-330 will even allow users to copy their DVDs to its hard disk.

Battery life is rated at four hours of video playback – enough for at least two movies.
