Digital Radio figures on the up

Good news for DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) with siginificant increases in both commercial and BBC figures for the first quarter of 2004. BBC7 saw a massive increase of 49% in the last quarter, taking its listening figures to 398,000 while 5 Live Sports Extra gained 44% to 369,000.

6 Music was up 20% with 187,000 listeners and 1 Extra up 6% with 263,000. The biggest rise in the commercial sector came from Emap’s Heat which grew by a massive 172% to 158,000. Rock station Kerrang! also owned by Emap, jumped 7% with 775,000 listeners.
