Nokia clamshell 7200 hits UK this week

One of the year’s biggest mobile phones is apparently on its way to UK stores this week.

Nokia’s 7200 is the company’s first clamshell model – except of course Nokia, which insists it doesn’t make clamshell handsets, won’t call it that.

The 7200 has been dubbed the ‘Louis Vuitton phone’ for the way one of the phone’s designs features beige-coloured fabric padding on its outside, which is reminiscent of the French fashion company’s products. It is also available in several other colours including a more masculine blue.

Nokia has also kept the gadget count high, packing in an integrated VGA camera with a video option, an FM radio and XHTML browser (which offers an enhanced form of Wap).

It is expected to retail for around £200 with contract. Look out for a full review next week.

Other features include

65,536 colour TFT display
Delightful design experience: coordinated covers, soft pouch and wrist strap, with matching wallpapers and screensavers
Presence-enhanced contacts
Integrated hands free speaker
5 lines for text in basic mode with 16-pixel font
Java
Wap
Currency converter
