In what could prove to be the most exciting development in laptop PCs in years, Chinese brand Lenovo has announced its intention of launching a twin screen model later in 2004.

Codenamed Vela, the laptop sports two screens – a traditional 15.4inch main display and a further four-inch screen on the front of the laptop’s case. This second screen is designed to undertake the sort of applications people use their PDAs for at the moment, like checking email and searching for contact details. It will also deliver information such as details about music playing on the laptop.

The Vela will also be among the first notebook PCs to include Intel’s new Mobile Internet PC 2004 platform called Sonoma, which features Intel’s next Pentium mobile processor as well as facilities such as 802.11g wireless access.
