Some big Wi-Fi news this week from Broadreach Systems. The company, which turned the whole of London’s Leicester Square into a Wi-Fi zone, is apparently working on plans to extend that wireless zone across more of central London.

The company is also set to introduce an innovative way of charging for Wi-Fi access. Apparently users will be able to access its range of hot spots (details from here) and zones for a fee that’s expected to be around £50 for six months access – much cheaper than rival offerings from BT and T-Mobile.

Broadreach is also set to announce a series of deals with a number of ISPs and mobile phone operators. It won’t say who, but Vodafone and Orange seem like obvious contenders.
