It looks like two of the sexiest digital cameras on sale are about to get even more desirable.

Canon has announced that its next version in its Digital Ixus series (the Digital Ixus i) will be its smallest and lightest digital snapper so far. It might weigh just 100g (less than some mobile phones) but it can take four mega pixel images and 180 second video clips and it sports a 5.7x digital zoom. Images are stored on its accompanying 32MB SD (Secure Digital) card.

It is available in four colours; Pearl White, Classic Bronze, Platinum Silver and Piano Black. Due in the UK in October for a pretty reasonable £300.

We hear through the grapevine too that Pentax is lining up the next version of its also very cool Optio S tiny digital camera. The Optio S4 keeps the series classic tiny design, but delivers images of four mega pixels, as opposed to the 3.2 mega pixels of its current top-end model. It is due October time.
