AIPTEK has announced its new Z300 HD-V palm-sized camcorder, offering high definition recording on a budget.

It can record in 720p format (1,280 x 720 resolution) at up to 30 frames per second, and can take up to a 32GB SDHC card for storing the footage.

It also features a macro mode for close-up shooting, and can take still images at up to eight mexapixels.

The 2.4-inch swivel-mounted TFT LCD screen allows easy previewing and playback of video and still images, and the camcorder can be connected directly to a TV via component or composite leads.

Other features include red-eye reduction, flash, five different white balance modes, night mode, three photography modes, one touch recording, and auto focus.

The unit measures 13 x 70 x 33mm, and runs off a lithium-ion battery. It comes with a remote control unit, carry pouch, USB cable, and AC adaptor.

The AIPTEK Z300 HD-V will be available from late March 2008 at around £199.99.
